The gay rights group Queer KissingFlashmob is organizing a kissing protest against Pope Benedict XVIwhen he tours Spain next month.
The group says it will protest thepope's stance against gay relations and marriage equality by staginga giant kissing demonstration in front of the Holy Father.
“When Benedict XVI passed before us,we'll kiss, man with man or woman with woman,” Carole Marylene, anorganizer of the event, told Spanish news agency EFE. “It iscurious to note how an act so noble as a kiss can be consideredrevolutionary, even in the 21st century.”
Gay couples and sympathizing straightcouples will lock lips as the pontiff begins his procession fromBarcelona's Plaza de la Catedral to the Sagrada Familia on Sunday,November 7 at 9A.M.
The group's Facebook page, which hadattracted more than 1,500 confirmed attendees, was mysteriouslydeleted.
Pope Benedict has railed againstSpanish socialists who legalized gay marriage in 2005.
