After a pilgrimage to Turin last May, he decided to display permanently a replica at St Elias Cathedral in Beirut’s Debbas Square.
The shroud will stay for two days at the chapel of the Patriarch’s Resident in Geitaoui, then go to the convent of Mzommar, and eventually come back to St Elis Cathedral where it will be on permanent display.
The copy of the Shroud of Turin is 4.53 metres long and 43 centimetres wide. Mgr Giuseppe Ghiberti, president of the Diocesan Commission for the Shroud, was in charge of transportation.
