Mel Gibson Donates $9 Million To His 'Mysterious' Holy Family Church

Troubled actor Mel Gibson may be complaining he's broke, but he did manage to donate a goodly portion of his incredible wealth the church he built in Malibu.

According to documents obtained by the website, Gibson boosted the worth of his church, which he built himself and has approximately 100 members in its congregation, to nearly $60 million.

Gibson's former wife Robyn had been listed as an officer in the church, but her name was removed in the latest tax filing, Radaronline reports.

The Holy Family Church is characterized as a "traditionalist Catholic" church that rejects many of the modern day Vatican reforms, and it not recognized by the Roman Catholic Church.

The building sits on 11 acres behind Mulholland Drive and is kept private with a guarded gate.
Members are held to a strict standard that requires them to wear veils over their hair and long skirts, and women are not allowed to wear pants.

Are there any "rules" about ADULTERY in their teachings??

Gibson's only daughter, Hannah, married at the church in 2006 at a service conducted entirely in Latin.

The AP Reilly Foundation, which funds the church, was founded by Gibson upon the death of his mother Ann in 1997.

The church was reportedly built for his father.
