Top Irish singer Daniel O'Donnell has revealed that the extremely bad weather conditions forced him to abandon his annual routine of singing at midnight mass on Christmas Eve in his home village.
The popular singer has performed at the historic 150 year old Saint Mary's Church beside the beach in his scenic home village of Kincasslagh for over a generation and he claims he was very disappointed not to be able to do so again this year, having to spend Christmas Day at his Dublin apartment because of the freezing sub-zero weather conditions.
He said, “Our Christmas did not work out as planned, which again was down to the weather. We could not get to County Donegal because of all the disruption due to the snow so myself, Majella and the children spent Christmas Day at our apartment in Dublin and I was unable to sing at midnight mass in Saint Mary's Church.”
He also said, “We were running around shops on Christmas Eve trying to buy things for Christmas Day dinner that we normally have with my mum, but with we did get up to Donegal on Saint Stephen's Day which was nice.”
O’Donnell has always loved religious music and last year performed with Mary Duff on her album Voice of an Angel.
He also performed for a church fundraiser at Burt Church on the Inisowen peninsula earlier this year.
