Il Papa Book On Predecessor Due Next Week

A new book by Pope Benedict XVI, recounting his years of collaboration with Pope John Paul II, will be published in Italian next week.

Il Mio Amato Predecessore (My Beloved Predecessor) will be released in Italy by St. Paul Editions and sold through the Catholic weekly, Famiglia Cristiana.

The book is described as carrying the current Pope’s candid recollections of his years as a trusted aide to Pope John Paul.

The book on the late Polish Pontiff has attracted little advance publicity, while Vatican officials have called attention to a more ambitious new work by the Pope, Jesus of Nazareth.

That book, the first part of a series on the person of Jesus, is due for publication during Holy Week, with plans already in place for publication in several different languages.
