Irish Priest Describes Shooting Ordeal

An Irish missionary priest has been speaking of his ordeal after he was seriously injured in a gun attack in South Africa.

Fr Kieran Creagh, from Belfast, was shot twice by robbers at the hospice he founded to help Aids sufferers in Pretoria.

He is recovering from surgery to remove a bullet from his lung.

Speaking on RTÉ Radio's Morning Ireland, Fr Creagh said he came through the surgery 'quite well'.

The robbers escaped with money from the hospice safe and Fr Creagh's mobile phone.

Speaking from his hospital bed, he said he does not think the perpetrators had intended to use their weapons.
